A Swedish designer, fashion designer and founder of the Armanis Luminous silk road brand, Arman Ila, has died at the ripe old age of 80, the company announced on Thursday.
Larsson, who was also a co-founder of Armania, founded the label in 1979, when he was a teenager, and its products are known for their bold prints and intricate designs.
It also featured a wide range of high-end collections and accessories for men and women, including jackets, dresses and skirts, as well as bags and handbags.
He left Armanity in 2001 to join the designer group L’Oreal, which he founded in 2006.
In 2016, he joined a group of leading designers who created the Armans Luminous brand, which was eventually sold to LVMH in 2017.
Larsen has been described as “a true innovator and pioneer”, and his name was used in the name of Armin van Buuren’s new fragrance Arman.
In a statement on ArmanIla’s website, Larsson said he was deeply saddened to lose his father, who died in March, while travelling on his way to a holiday in the Dominican Republic.
“We have lost a father and a husband, but we also lost an innovative leader who has helped shape our brand,” Larsson wrote.
“We will miss Arman and the Armin Van Buuren brand.”
The company is also celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2018.
